The complexity of energy systems is increasing, and there is a growing need for dynamic studies of energy systems, involving variable generation of power and heat, energy storage, distribution and consumption. Good understanding of the dynamic behaviour is critical for the cost efficiency and resilience of the system, and finally for customer satisfaction.
In order to answer the need, the Apros development team has collected insight from VTT’s research and Fortum’s experiences and built a unique package, Apros District.
Apros District builds on the basic library of the Apros product, hence it includes comprehensive libraries of process component models, automation functions and electrical system models. In addition, the tool has a map-based user interface specifically designed for district heating systems, a capability of importing GIS (Geographic Information System) data.
